Death = Change

To subatomic particles to the Boss Great Wall of Galaxies there is one constant in the Universe: change. Change affects everything, including your physical body or light fixture that holds, while you’re on earth, your soul or Light. This light fixture has an expiration date known as death, which is the moment you step over the threshold from the physical to the spiritual realm. For some, the idea of this change evokes fear. But it need not be, as these two experiences illustrate.
Hours before I received a call that my mother, who was blind and deaf and lived 2,000 miles away, had died, she came to me in a vision. Bubbling with joy and a sense of adventure, she motioned for me to follow her to a large majestic bronze door that, when opened, showered the space with a brilliant golden loving Light. When my mom stepped over the threshold, I tried to follow. My heart yearned to be in that Light, but she held up her hand. She said, “It’s not your time yet. Go back and do what you came to earth to do: to love yourself and use your gift as a spiritual conduit to assist others in loving themselves and understanding their light.” With that, she faded away. To this day, I savor her parting gift of showing me that death is simply a beautiful change.
This second story centers on my best friend who was dying of breast cancer. In her final days she was in a coma. But did that cease my talking and making jokes? No way. On this day I was at the foot of her hospital bed working on a radio show. Suddenly I saw a white, glistening light travel from the bed to the nearby window, stopping there and then repeating this movement before returning to her body. It was I knew the prologue to her death. A few hours later, as executor of her estate, I had to make a 10-minute car trip to her bank. Before I left, I jokingly told her not to cross over while I was gone. But she had the last laugh, as was her forte, for upon my return I learned she had passed. With a smile and joy, I sent her love and light.
