The Fear of Aging

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

For some people the scariest thing in life is not fear of heights or of not being able to swim or of not having enough money or of being alone; instead, it is the fear of aging, notably the fear of losing one’s physical attractiveness as well as physical abilities.

As my guides often remind me, from the moment you are born into this physical world, you are aging and that is a good thing. Because if you aren’t aging, you are not alive. Yes, our guides do have a sense of humor! But seriously, aging equals experiencing life, a life you yourself set up to encounter, as none of us are here by accident, but by decision. Your soul chose to be here to connect to your true self, that is, your authentic light in order to share your signature light with others, to let go of past pains or negative actions so as not to recreate that angst again this lifetime, and always, always, to learn to love yourself.

As the TV detective Monk would say when he solved the case, “Here’s the thing.” Before we come into this physical place, you, along with your guides, your nonphysical teachers and angels on the Other Side, create a to-do list of what you aim to address this lifetime in order to evolve spiritually with love and without judgement of yourself and others. Life experiences come in a package I call Learning to Love, Appreciate and Increase Your Light’s Brilliance.

Deleting the fear of aging is accomplished by living in the present, the now. From one of my guides comes the following words:

You cannot overcome aging, but you must look at it as something that is given to you as a process of change, of preparation; you do not need to hold on to your youth, for the fit would no longer be there. So, look at your body, think well of it and realize that it has become worn. Just as tires become worn and slick, so does the body.

There was a time when I did some modeling gigs and as well as several years of TV and radio broadcasting. My appearance was something I had to pay attention to. When I communicated my concerns of aging to my guides, they offered another sage perspective. Age is caused by the struggle to stay alive. Here is their quote:

A person can color the walls of his/her home any color, but until the furnishings are placed among those walls, the walls do not come alive. Your body becomes alive as it settles and matures and yet becomes more constant, more still. The body prepares itself for transition to leaving the limitations of the physical life and returning to the spiritual world. What creates the aging process is the struggle to stay alive, to stay attractive, to stay the way you where when you were in your 20’s and 30’s.

Speaking of the those in their 20’s and 30’s, I honor your journeys a recent survey by the McCann WorldGroup stated that what the majority of people under the age of 40 worry about the most is aging. In conclusion, here’s one added note on aging. The most “age-defying” action you can do every day is to allow your true-self, your light, to shine with bright illumination and joy. Your light is the most memorable and attractive essence about you, and what most people will remember about you after you depart from their presence. And that is truth. Now, where is my makeup? I look a mess!
